PONY-O REVIEW: Does it actually work?
As usual, scrolling through my Facebook feed, seeing all the usual posts; memes, cute pictures of my niece and nephew, friends who I don't really speak to IRL statuses about their life, and the occasional paid post. I usually don't pay too much attention to these ads BUT this time I DID! A hair tie that stays in place and makes thin hair look thick... you got me!

Since my hair is now SUPER thin (thank you migraine medication) and has started to get long-ish after I cut my hair in a bob last year, my hair needed a little something extra to look semi-decent day-to-day.
So for obvious reasons the PONY-O appealed to me. Given its relatively cheap price, for what it claims to do, I was intrigued.. advertised as $19.95 for 2 “Pony-O” hair ties that promised to give you a fuller and perkier pony all while preventing damage to your locks and never giving them a crease.
I ordered the DELUXE PACK in brown (2 x Pony-Os: 1 slim and 1 wide, 1 x Bun Barz, 1 x Bling Ringz), which was approx. $54 AUD (which was on sale and included shipping.)
FINE HAIR BENEFITS
Thin hair looks thicker
Pony-O products don't break or tear your hair
Stays all day without creasing hair
Your perfect ponytail is lifted and fuller
THICK HAIR BENEFITS
Thick hair stays put
It feels light, as though there is nothing in your hair
Your ponytail is lifted and light
No creases and no tension
The website states: "Hairstyling for every hair type that is easy and the possibilities are endless! Pony-O holds so well that no pins or sprays are required. Nothing else on the market can match the hold and comfort of Pony-O hair accessories!"
So when I first tried this bad boy out, I didn't quite get how it worked and wanted a refund immediately.
However, I did contact Pony-O directly and they sent me a link on how it works. It is definitely is a different approach to putting your hair in a pony. The band is not stretchy, at all. Instead of wrapping your hair tie multiple times around your hair to secure it, the Pony-O requires you to flatten the moldable band and then bend the sides down to form a circle.
The Good:
It did make my pony somewhat PERKier! The learning process was somewhat easy after watching the how to video! There was more initial volume.
PROS: Won’t break like elastic bands, the feel is much looser so no headaches, multiple color shades to match hair colour.
The Not-So-Good
My hair, by nature, is fine/thin and a little bit slippery especially after its just been washed (maybe its my conditioner that causes that). Though it gave me a fuller, perkier, effect initially, I did find that it would slid out of my hair after around 30 minutes putting in my Pony-O, which just led me to take it out, out of frustration.
The price, if you live in australia, it is a little bit expensive, especially after adding shipping and the conversion from USD to aud.

FINALLY, it was somewhat easy for me to slide my hair through, but, I really do not know how you would slip fuller/thick hair through the grippy and un-stretchy texture of the tie.
CONS: Kind of awkward at first and takes some time to master.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 ⭐️’s
To give you some context, 3 stars means I feel IMPARTIAL about the Pony-O.
It didn’t personally offer me the benefits it said it would. I need something that is going to keep my hair inplace, I really wanted to love it, but
I hope this helps you on the quest for the perfect pony tamer, but for me, the search still continues.
*pictures of me with my Pony-O coming soon. I will do a seperate review of the BUN BAR from Pony-O.
