THE 2019 SUMMER FASHION TRENDS TO INVEST IN

1. Milkmaid tops and dresses
The milkmaid is an old school twist on your favourite summer look. These pretty tops and dresses have features like puff sleeves, bow ties, and square necks. They also tend to be incredibly versatile - dresses can be dressed up with heels and statement earrings or paired with sneakers for a more casual day look. Meanwhile, the tops can be worn with everything from a slip skirt to your favourite pair of jeans.

2. Animal prints
Leopard, zebra or cheetah, animal prints are hot for summer. Start off in small doses via footwear or bags, and then finish big with an all-over look. Bonus points for wearing more than one type at once.

3. Bike shorts
The last few years of fashion have blurred the lines between streetwear and sportswear. Labels like Yeezy have made athleisure a style in its own right. Off the back of this shift, bike shorts are the surprisingly wearable trend making their way into the mainstream. Try on a pair this summer. They are insanely comfortable!

4. Slip skirts
If you're a fan of slip dresses, then you'll love this trend. This season, your 90s slip dress has a little sister, the slip skirt. A little less revealing than the ultra-tight midi skirt trends from the last few years, this skirt skims your figure in a flattering way, showing just enough. Team it with a T-shirt and boots to grunge it up or look poised and pair it with a plain bandeau and heels.

5. Mango yellow
Last year's was lemon yellow, this summer it's a love affair with deep mango yellow, or marigold. Wear it from head to toe or you can infuse the colour in small doses, we recommend going big. Case in point: this J.Crew dress cotton-voile midi dress in the exact yellow shade—perfect for bright and breezy summer days.
